I had a similar problem. If you are starting pppd from scripts, check each
program called to ensure the the full path name is used. (That was my
problem at least). The problem is addressed somewhere in a FAQ/HOWTO. And
I never managed to connect that discussion with my problem, so some good
people here help out. (Thanks again people!)
