and you only read the printed manuals? Um, did you try the man pages?
man -k ghostscript
returns three entries on my system:
gs (1) - Aladdin Ghostscript version 3.0
interpreter/previewer
gsftopk (1) - render a ghostscript font in TeX pk format
ghostview (1) - View PostScript documents using ghostscript
and, lookee there! I just went to /cdrom/doc/HOWTO
and found:
Printing-HOWTO.gz
Printing-Usage-HOWTO.gz
I have not looked at them, that is for sure, but they are there. Now,
I realize that this whole un*x thing can be daunting at times, byut
that is not any reason to go ballistic about a perceived problem with
their guide. Heck, I did not see any improvements that you
submitted.

or they could hold up the release of the next version trying to make
it perfect. I think it is great that the howtos and faqs are on the
cd.

I work customer support for another company (yes, see the from: line
to see who!), and this is almost the absolute worst type of cry for
help. They (and no one else, for that matter) will not be able to
help you unless you are willing to quit screaming for help. You do
not mention how you tried to print the /etc/fstab file. Every print
command that you could think of? Which ones? (for instance,
did you use mpr, lpr, lp, gs?) what error mesages did you get?
"permission denied" does not tell us much. What type of a printer?
