I've just upgraded to RedHat Linux 4.0 and am having trouble building my
application since then. I suppose there is some incompatibility with a
library or something, but I'm not sure where to look. I'm hoping to avoid
going back to 3.0.3 (I've got a backup so that wouldn't be too bad.)
Anyway, the upgrade was successful. I also tried a complete install.
The /tmp/install.log has nothing in it but 'Installing ...' messages.
I have applied all the updates.
The application is a large, Motif-based application which uses a library
called OTC. I've rebuilt this library since the upgrade and also got the
latest version of OTC and tried that.
The problem is that when I link it I always get messages of the sort
ld: Warning: size of symbol `item__t10OTC_Bucket1Z10OTC_String' changed
from 20 to 13 in t_otc_21_01.o
Whe I run it, I get
XIO: fatal IO error 2 (Bad address) on X server ":0.0"
after 8680 requests (8641 known processed) with 872 events remaining.
which I imagine is related.
I am using RedHat Motif 2.0.
I have another program which uses OTC and Motif which links and runs without
problem.
I've posted on gnu.g++.help and sent a message to the OTC people, but I was
hoping somebody here might have an insight as to what to do or where to look.
Thanks,
Dan
