I had ppp working great under the 2.0 kernel, and that took a little
hacking since pppd went from 2.1 to 2.2.  But I didn't notice any change
in pppd after the RH3.0.3 -> RH4.0 upgrade.  So I assumed my scripts would
still work (You know what happens when one assumes :)

Anyway, as for the ISP, I know nothing has changed there, since my ISP
happens to be work :)  And no one's changed anything here as far as ppp is
concerned for a long time !

I'll have to hack the scripts again, and really look at what's going on.
I think you're right, it may be a low level thing like setserial or flow
control.
