Hi,
I installed RedHat 4.0 from my new CDs last week, and everything went just
fine. However, XFree86 3.1.2 (on the CDs) didn't support my graphics card
(Cirrus Logic CLGD5446), so I upgraded to XFree86 3.2. When I was doing this,
the RPMs at ftp.redhat.com weren't yet available, so I copied the binary kits
from xfree86.org and installed in the standard manner. Now, when I start X,
everything comes up fine, including two xterms. However, as soon as I type
*any* character in the xterms they disappear. Other applications seem to
function fine. The only messages on the console that appear relevant are:
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb/xkbcomp: can't resolve symbol 'XkbLibraryVersion'
Couldn't load XKB keymap, falling back to pre-XKB keymap
(I don't know if that has anything to do with the problem or not).
Has anyone else seen this problem? Any suggestions?
Thanks for your help,
/jim
