I tried to install red hat 4.0 from cdrom last night. I had a problem with the
cdrom drive. I have an 8x Creative Labs IDE CDrom drive (no soundcard)
connected to a cdrom controller card (hope that makes sense). Initially, the
installation did not recognize the cdrom, but after changing a jumper position
on the card, the cdrom was recognized as hdd. I then went on to install red
hat. The cdrom mounted successfully and everything was going well. But, due
to an unrelated CPU problem, the computer crashed and rebooted. So, I had to
try again.

The second try:

My cdrom was recognized during the initial boot process, again as hdd. I then
got to the window which asked the type of cd rom drive--I entered IDE/ATAPI
again. The next window popped up and said

"mount failed: invalid argument"

I checked all the connectors on the cdrom. They seem to be ok. Does anybody
have any ideas of what might be wrong?
