I am not connected to a network.  I have a stand alone Linux system.
I get the error message when there is no server running and acm has started
the server and is trying to connect to it.

If I start the server (e.g. acms localhost &) and then try try to start
acm, I get a message about being unable to connect to scuster:0.0
