Installing a source RPM into a nonstandard directory:
[root@borg vlad]# rpm -ihv --root /home/vlad/src/ <line wrap here>
/cdrom/SRPMS/sh-utils-1.12-10.src.rpm
sh-utils ##################################################
file /home/vlad/src///usr/src/redhat/SOURCES/sh-utils-1.12.spec missing
from source directory
error: /cdrom/SRPMS/sh-utils-1.12-10.src.rpm does not appear
to be a RPM package
error: /cdrom/SRPMS/sh-utils-1.12-10.src.rpm cannot be installed
[root@borg vlad]#
Despite the error messages, packages gets installed.
Since it's always like that, maybe there's a bug
in the "--root" switch? I should be able to install
an RPM in any directory, right?
[root@borg src]# rpm --version
RPM version 2.2.7
[root@borg src]#
