as you may guess from the subject line, I am having a bit of trouble
running some of the RPMs; I am on RH 3.0.3; when I try to run rpm,
for example, see below, I get this error message:
[root@carrizo rpms]# rpm -U rpm-2.2.8-1.i386.rpm
only packages with major numbers <= 2 are supported by this version of RPM
error: rpm-2.2.8-1.i386.rpm cannot be installed
so I cannot update to the latest rpm; this affects other packages as well:
[root@carrizo rpms]# rpm -U spice-2g6-4.i386.rpm
only packages with major numbers <= 2 are supported by this version of RPM
error: spice-2g6-4.i386.rpm cannot be installed
Okay, so I figure I need to update my rpm, but to which, and from where?
as usual, all help appreciated.
