try running startx or xinit instead of X directly...then, if that
works, look at those scripts, and that will show you roughly what
you need to do.

You have to run Xconfig86 ( I think) or use Xconfigurator to
create an XF86Config file.

Of course not... you have to create the directory /mnt/dosc
yourself for the linux mount command to mount it properly.
If I recall, which I could be wrong, I had to create my own
fstab entry for my cdrom once I had installed Redhat 4.0, but
I don't recall for sure.
