I am still battling this one. I now have upgraded to version 4.0.
I have a /etc/hosts that has:
127.0.0.1 saba.me.com saba
198.222.232.3 portmaster
198.222.232.206 dominica
I have tried with and without a resolv.conf which appears to
make no difference.
When I dial into the portmaster using SLIP I get connected and
can see that my ip address 198.222.232.240 gets set up. I can
further see that the sl0 interface is set up and I have
routes as such:
198.222.232.3 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0
0.0.0.0 198.222.232.3 255.255.255.0
When I ping myself 198.202.232.240 I get responses
As soon as I try to ping anything on the network side (portmaster or dominica)
the line comes crashing down. In doing a packet trace I see the following
three things on the portmaster:
ICMP request from 198.222.232.240
ICMP response from 198.222.232.206
UDP from 206.54.152.10 (the DNS at the company provider which is configured as
the DNS server to the portmaster and is available over the frame relay frad).
I really am at the end of my ropes and want to throw this box out of a very
high window. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am using dip -t -v to try to do this manually initially to ensure the validity
of the connection.
Thanks
Mike
