Try libc-gnumalloc at 
ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/contrib/RPMS/libc-gnumalloc-5.3.12-5.i386.rpm
Install with --force. Works fine with Netscape and Java, and everything else.

Also, if you've installed the JDK, you should be able to use appletviewer.
