Yes, adding aptiva to /etc/hosts solved the problem, as I presumed that
executing hostname aptiva, and setting it in the network config tool
would have done that for me.
I did a complete install not upgrade of 4.0, with the exception that
I backed-up /home (where all the user accounts are), and restored it
after installing 4.0. I also ran calderize, which may effect the
passwords?
I also removed the yp packages, so I am hoping that my system
wasn't depending upon yppasswd to set password?
In the add user tool, I thought I added passwords, but they appear
to have been ignored (any password worked).
