A general linux question:

What is a zombie process? By top's say:

 10:46pm up 7:30, 4 users, load average: 1.18, 1.23, 1.18
145 processes: 42 sleeping, 1 running, 102 zombie, 0 stopped
CPU states: 13.1% user, 44.8% system, 54.1% nice, 42.2% idle
Mem: 18688K av, 18356K used, 332K free, 12328K shrd, 840K buff
Swap: 41292K av, 5612K used, 35680K free 5656K cached

From ps I can see it looks like everything that I have ever run is stuck
in zombie mode! This seems like an issue, does anyone have any insight?

Thank you,

Brad
