Java under netscape has bugs that show up only with newer libc's, such as
the 5.3.12 that comes with Red Hat. Netscape is aware of the problems (I
think?) but hasn't fixed them yet.

In addition, the Bus Errors that you get with netscape are in fact
netscape trying to mask its errors. If you strace the netscape process,
you will notice that it receives a segmentation fault signal, and then
kills itself with SIGBUS.

While I myself like netscape, it's very bad programming to try and blame
the hardware (on other architectures, SIGBUS is generated by the hardware,
on the Intel the hardware is incapable of generating it) for a
programmer's error.

IOW, bug netscape to fix it ;-)
