| hara,
|
| I really can't help with the LI 01 01 01 message. I know that it's
| described in various HOWTOs and docs as to what could be the cause, but
| since I'm not near my linux box at the moment.
|
| You can use the installation disk to get access to your linux drives. Just
| boot with it, and before you select any installation options, switch to
| another VC (2??) using ALT-F?. From there you should be able to mount your
| linux drives and fix any lilo problems. Hopefully someone else will be
| able to give you more info on what might be causing the problem. In the
| future, it might be more helpful if you give a brief description of what
| hardware you have in the system.. Is it SCSI, IDE, etc.
|
| As for the ATI with the mach32, I believe XFree86 has a mach32 server. I'm
| not sure if that specific board is supported, but you can check at
| http://www.xfree86.org. Look for the online docs and the supported cards
| list.
|
| Good Luck,
| Heath

Hi Heath,

Thanks for the help. I have the LILO user's manual and know why LILO is prompting
as above. I believe I have confused you and others with my mail. I should have left
out reference to my earlier attempts installing LILO on MBR. My problem is that
after installing RH4 and installing LILO on a 3.5" floppy, booting takes place ok.
In booting with the floppy, I get the LILO prompt and after choosing linux, the
kernel uncompresses fine, I get some boot messages and (I think) it checks for the
hardware. I displays info about hda and hangs. This is the problem.
