Make sure printing the header page is turned off... it's a little
check box in the printtool.
or you can add ":sh:" (without the quotes, of course) to the entry in
/etc/printcap for you printer... that stands for supress headers.
The basic problem is that HP printers expect DOS-type text for plain
text printing, and Red Hat, of course feeds it Unix-type text for the
header page. It's the classic CR/LF problem.. so the printer never
goes onto the next line to start printing.
Has anyone managed to configure lpd to print a header page in
postscript? (before the gs filter runs for non-postscript printers,
of course) That would solve the whole problem.
