Wow...my hands are almost trembling in excitement...I might actually be
able to offer a solution to a technical problem...I'm sure I'll screw up
somehow, but here goes (optimistic, aren't I?).
Try the sysklogd manual page...specifically the -r option. What I did was
to edit /etc/rc.d/init.d/syslog, adding -r to the "daemon syslogd" line,
then did a "./syslog stop; ./syslog start", and boom...it started logging
those remote messages.
Several amazing things...I just did this 45 minutes ago, but have been
looking into it for 2 days. Also, I've gotten 4 DIGESTS of messages since
the one yours began, and I don't see that anyone's answered already. This
could be a turning point in my life amongst the Linux Illuminati!!
Nah...I'm sure something's wrong here somewhere...probably didn't
understand the problem you were really answering. :-)
