Amazingly enough, I am in the very same situation: Accel-X Demo works
fine (apart from the 10 min time limit) while both XFree and
Metro-X fail to go above 640x480. The annoying thing in my case is
that my videocard is a rather old Compaq integrated card, CL-5420 based,
which is CLAIMED TO BE SUPPORTED by both XFree & Metro-X.
Both however seem to have a very similar bug that makes me very
suspicious whether Metro-X people just copied a buggy XFree driver.
And, because of the age of my computer (2 years = obsolete), I have
no hope that any future releases of XFree will help me.
Anyways, I highly support the idea that RedHat switches to
Accelerated X, I believe it deserves something better than Metro-X.
Meanwhile, should anyone express the opposite opinion (Accel-X sucks,
Metro-X rules), I am willing to trade! Send me a private e-mail.
