Here in AT&T land linux has attracted a fairly large following. Since it
is getting harder to justify a $10,000 workstation over a $3,000 PC (which
is often faster) most people end up with a Wintel machine on their desks
and are less than happy with the Win part of it.
I have found linux to be the most stable production OS in major use here
(beating NT, win95, and Irix). Linux could use a better NFS implementation
and SMP support, those are the only issues keeping me from installing a
large linux-based server. Oh, and the lack of a SCSI driver for the Mylex
DAC960P RAID controller.
