I do believe the people at Sun managed Solaris on a 300... might mean
all the difference in the world.

You're entitled. :)

I think most of my problems stemed from the fact that it was a
brand-spanking new 500 (something) and all the kernel hacking Sun had
to do to make it work still had bugs.

I suppose any manufactuer could have the same problem.... I just
peronsally would prefer to buy hardware that I'm sure is fully
supported, and trial tested over serveral versions of the kernel.
Let's just say, I don't like being a guinea pig. :)
