Here's the scoop. I just built my own kernel which was monolithic and had
support for my 3940. The install was flawless except for some of the
problems mentioned by others already (had to skip lilo install wouldn't
put it in the super block of linux partition...anyway). For users who
don't already have linux running, they could try your suggestion, or get
ahold of me and I can get then a vmlinuz that should work. That way,
they don't have to install picasso just to get a working boot disk. Only
thing important other than supporting your hardware is to compile support
for ramdisk and boot: linux load_ramdisk=1.

I wish someone had recommended this earlier, but yesterday someone
recommended it to someone else, so I tried it and it worked like a
champ. Install doesn't even ask if you have scsi, it just takes you to
partitioning, formattting, etc.

Best of luck to anyone else having problems... and thanks for the suggestion

Todd

Note to Red Hat team...if you haven't already, you should get a kernel
image on your site for people with 3940W at least. Some users reported
2940 is ok with standard boot disk, but I know 3940 isn't.
