This is a repost of a message i sent a couple days ago...
I receive about 200 mails a day from the mailing list, and I see
just about every question answered... but i didnt see mine answered,
so I wonder if my mail got lost.
If you saw this already and dont have a clue (like me) on how to
help me, I apologize for sending it twice.
Basically I am re-posting it to see if someone at RedHat can
have a look into this problem... I have tried all the boot disks I
found (even the Oct 25 versions in /ewt )
Thanks again.....
Hello... I am having the following problem installing Red Hat 4.0
I have tried the boot disk in the distribution, the one in the update
directory, and the latest SCSI one (of Oct 24) in the update directory.
I have a Adaptec 2940 UW, and it is recognized perfectly by the kernel.
However, with ALL the boot disks i tried, everything works fine until
I select "Install From CD-ROM", then I choose SCSI, and then it says:
"Initializing CD-ROM" (or something similar). At that point, the
screen changes, and it is all blue with a help line at the very bottom.
Nohting else happens. At this point the install program freezes.
The screen scrolls up one line, and the cursor stays blinking at the
bottom line (which is now black, after the scroll up) and i can type
stuff, but nothing happens. I just have to reboot.
Is anyone else having the same problem? I have a Plextor SCSI 8x
CDROM (8Plex) and I downloaded the redhat 4.0 dist from ftp, and burnt it
onto a CDROM. I can access the CDROM perfectly from Redhat 3.0.3, which
I have currently installed. WHat's more, if i put the official Redhat
3.0.3 CDROM in the CD drive (just for testing), the same thing happens, so
I guess it is not a problem with the media.
Any help is so very much appreciated... thanx.
