Well, when I read this message on the console I was trying ti
figure out what the hell you meant by "wrong".  All I saw was
the text and it was in color.

My bet is that you have color ls enabled and it is printing
those escape sequences in your editor (I can now see them as
I reply to this message in vi).

The answer is to turn off color ls...
