I thought the worst was over. :(

The last time I succeeded in booting Colgate, I had to reinstall
a bunch of things, including pam and pamconfig. These would have been the
latest packages as of the evening of the 24th.

The next time I booted (this morning) I can't log in. I get the login
prompt. Whatever I type, the system flashes "Incorrect login" four times
fast as soon as I hit return, clears the screen, and presents a fresh
login prompt. It never prompts for a password.

This was a clean install, plus errata. Nothing else.
A few quirks are to be expected. But this is frustrating.
I am very close to wiping out every trace of Colgate.

Thanks for any help,
Kyle Ferrio
