News people say that "a dog bites man" is not a news while
"man bites news" is.
I am writting to this list for the first time because I
was somehow surprise to the negative tone of some users
about the problems few people has had with the RedHat 4.0.
I have had problems too (my ghostscript + lpr doesnt work yet)
nevertheless I praise RedHat for an outstanding job. Anyone
thinking that a comercial vendor will compile and fix so quickly
bugs in a recent distribution please feel free to write to me
and inform me how to get SGI to fix the enourmous number of bugs in the
IRIS 5.3!.
Moreover RedHat offers freely the distribution to users who wish
to test it. My case for example, I did buy the 3.0.3 distribution
and I will happily buy the next press of the 4.0.x. This time I was
very very impress with the work done on the 4.0, the number of new
features offered and number of services is so large that It surprises me
that so few errors are still hanging around.
To RedHat, as a customer, I would like to make a recommendation.
I left slackware after a long time of use, right after installing
slackware 95, it was a disatreous distribution and I know many
people who abandon slackware for Redhat. I would be careful damaging
your current good reputation among users by rushing in a future
a distribution.
By the way, is RedHat planning to offer any OPENGL library in the future?
