I have tried to Upgrade to Colgate (from Rembrandt) using the official CD.
Each time the upgrade fails when I try to install LILO on sda2 (my root
partition). If I request the menue option, I get a blank screen, with no way
of exiting. I tried first using the boot disk supplied with the CD's, and then
with a boot disk created using the image (boot.img) dated 15th October in the
updates directory under RedHat-4.0 on the RedHat ftp site. Both failed. I
hacked into the Linux directories and restored the lilo.conf that had been
deleted, but when I tried to reboot LILO complained that it had a 2.0.18
kernel and 2.0.10 modules and the reboot died with a kernel panic. Currently I
am leaving the system in limbo until I get some advice.
