You can do what I've done and use Samba to mount your MP3 directory on your
local machine, then just play MP3s locally. It works great for me so far.
I have been an encoding fool for the past two weeks. (4.5G of MP3s and
rising!)

If you've got Samba on your machines try this:

smbmount //<server name>/<mp3 directory> /mnt/<local mp3 dir> -c <machine
name> -U <username> -P <password>

Then you can just cd into the /mnt/<local mp3 dir> and play MP3s!

Hope this helps,
G. Lenzer
