I just use TGIF to make the labels. I make one the proper size, etc. then
duplicate. Then I load up the printer with the labels and print (I usually
print a test page first to make sure I have the right dimensions, layout, etc)
I've also done this to make business cards - one file for each side, and send
them through twice (have to get the orientation right!)
Instead of TGIF, I'm sure you could use xfig, xpaint or even StarWriter.
