Thanks to everyone who helped me with infos. I've purchased one of these
writers, and I'm very pleased with it. First I was afraid of ATAPI CD
writers, but now I'm convinced there's nothing wrong with this.
Installation was really straightforward, and it works fine with
cdrecord-1.6.1. Even wrote at 4x speed from an NFS-mount without errors
:)
The drive is around $210 (in Hungary). If one doesn't need CD-RW, then
this drive is a good choice for non-SCSI systems.
