I finally solved the sendmail problem I had recently. I have 2 boxes running
sendmail, and would like them to backup each other when one is down. I did
everything, adding domain in sendmail.cw, the domain name in relay_allow of
secondary server, setting up proper MX records... etc. I even tried
Kmailertable to no avail. The secondary still bounced all mails with a
"local configuration error (MX Problem?)" when the main is down.
Then I discovered that even if I have assigned multiple domain names to the
secondary server (Not CNAME, but proper IN A records), the pointer to the
secondary appears on MX record MUST be the first record available when doing
a lookup, preferrably matches reverse lookup as well. Hope this little hint
would help someone comes to the same problem in future.
