If this is redhat 5.1-then you need to get some patches, I had the same
problem. I'm not sure if 5.2 is the same-could be, check the errata. Also make
sure you do not have anything specified in your /etc/hosts.allow or
hosts.deny-this can screw you up if not used properly. And again, check your
services, your /etc/inetd.conf will tell you if you are loading
/usr/bin/in.ftpd, or whatever you need to be loading for FTP.
