Hi!
On a RH5.2 box, I'm getting the following errors:
[root@hope /root]# /usr/sbin/traceroute -i eth0 ag.or.at
traceroute to ag.or.at (128.130.43.98), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets
traceroute: sendto: Die Operation ist nicht erlaubt
1 traceroute: wrote ag.or.at 40 chars, ret=-1
The same happens with ntp:
[root@hope /root]# /usr/bin/ntpdate bernina.ethz.ch22 Nov 21:56:26
ntpdate[9774]: sendto(129.132.1.11): Operation not permitted
22 Nov 21:56:27 ntpdate[9774]: sendto(129.132.1.11): Operation not
permitted
22 Nov 21:56:28 ntpdate[9774]: sendto(129.132.1.11): Operation not
permitted
22 Nov 21:56:29 ntpdate[9774]: sendto(129.132.1.11): Operation not
permitted
22 Nov 21:56:30 ntpdate[9774]: no server suitable for synchronization
found
Using strace shows in both cases a sendto(...) = EPERM problem :(
But UDP basically works, as DNS is working.
