Install the sources for samba and read the file docs/ENCRYPTION.txt
then enable the option "encrypt passwords" in your /etc/smb.conf,
create a smbpasswd file for yourself following the instructions in
docs/ENCRYPTION.txt and it should work (Linux Journal has an article
about this)
