Mouse problems after upgrading from 5.1 to 5.2

Hi,
I just upgraded from Redhat 5.1 to 5.2. My (remaining) problem is my mouse
(MS IntelliPoint) works fine when I boot and run a shell, but if I run X and
exit (or switch to a virtual console) ceases to work properly. It seems if
the mouse protocol changes (i.e. mouse movement highlights text, etc..) when
leaving X. The mouse works fine in X windows.
All worked fine before the upgrade.
