It's an old BIOS limitation. Windows, DOS, NT all
put their 'system' files at the beginning
of the disk so the BIOS can find them during boot.
Warnings from LILO can sometimes be ignored.
Just put a line in /etc/lilo.conf containing 1 word:
linear
to increase the chance being able to use over 1024
cylinders just fine.
