Hi there,
I was wondering about 'moving' my win95 partition around in my system,
if anyone already did that sort of thing, i would like to hear suggestions;-).
my actual setup is as follows:
hda: <hda1> --> windoze95 (version A == fat16 fs)
hdb: <hdb1> --> linux root
<hdb2> --> free
<hdb3> --> linux swap
<hdb4> --> linux home
where all partitions are primary ones and LILO is installed in /dev/hda (MBR
hda).
My intention is to:
a) change type FAT16 to hdb2 and format it as dos with <mkdosfs>
b) under linux mounting both /dev/hda1 --> /mnt/tmp1 and /dev/hdb2 -->
/mnt/tmp2
c) "copying" all hda1 onto hdb2:
for this: is to be preferred a 'cp -a' copy or a raw 'dd' one (w/ mounts)?
d) rerunning lilo to update changes.
Do you know if that would do the trick? Do you have any hint?
I'm forced to do such a thing 'cause i need hda1 free for installing dos 6.22 +
win3.11 - sigh!
and my pc is without cd-rom, so I cannot reinstall windoze95 from scratch...
well, many thanks in advance.
ciao fede
