To avoid quoting, you logged in as "tomas". Then you su'd
to root, and created a file in the /home/tomas directory.
You exited, and went back to being tomas. You then rm'd the
file, and it removed it, even though the permissions and
ownerships owuld indicate that tomas could not do it.
I tried it here on my 5.1 box. Got the same results.
However, when I looked in my /etc/group file, I see that
I -myself- is listed as being in the root group. Thus as
for myself, I would have write/erase permission to files with
root root ownership.
Check your /etc/group file and report back on what is there
on the root group line. If you are NOT listed there, then
this needs an explanation PRONTO!
