*** OS/2 TENTH BIRTHDAY PARTY ***
- - IBM Works Presentation/Demo - -
To celebrate the holiday season, along with the 10th birthday of
OS/2, the 10th OS/2 Birthday Party which was originally scheduled
for November has been rescheduled for December.
In celebration of the 10th anniversary of the OS/2 operating system,
IBM is treating us to a special party: a real party, with cake, party
trinkets, prizes, etc. All regular members, other OS/2 users, their
guests & others are invited to party with us. Jim Geueke of IBM, our
November guest speaker, plans to be with us again to deliver software
prizes donated by IBM to the winners of the November raffle.
We will also demonstrate many of the cool features included in the
IBM Works suite, a highly useful, greatly underrated and seldom-used
OS/2 Warp BonusPak item.
Other agenda items include OS/2 news & new product announcements,
Fall Comdex report by David Moskowitz, discussion and live demos of
OS/2 apps, Java, Internet, Q&A session, raffles, and more as time
permits. We have about 25 OS/2 software items, donated by Stardock
and Indelible Blue to be awarded as raffle prizes.
OS/2 SIG meetings are open and free for all OS/2 users, their guests
and others interested in learning about OS/2. To hear about new and
exciting developments, or get answers to your questions about OS/2
Warp, this is the place to see OS/2 in action.
Due to construction delays, none of the meeting rooms in the new
IBM office building will be ready for use this month. Alternate
arrangements were made to meet in the Fellowship Hall of The Good
Shepherd Lutheran Church in King of Prussia, located at corner of
Henderson & Valley Forge Roads in King of Prussia.
(1) From West Chester and other southern areas, take Route 202
north. Limited access ends at large intersection with Gulph Rd.
in King of Prussia. After crossing Gulph Rd, stay on Route 202
(Dekalb Pike) for 1.5 miles to Henderson Rd. Look for a Sunoco
Station, 20-20 Vision Center, CoreStates Bank and PNC Bank.
Turn LEFT on Henderson Rd. Continue as per (5) below.
(2) From NJ, Philadelphia, the Blue Route, etc. take Schuylkill
Expwy. (I-76) west to King of Prussia. Exit at Route 202 North
(Exit 26A) which takes you to the Gulph Rd intersection, and
proceed north on Route 202 (Dekalb Pike) as per (1) above.
If you know how to get to Henderson Rd. from the Gulph Mills exit
of I-76, this is shorter, but only if you know the way. Then take
Henderson Rd. to Route 202. Continue as per (5) below.
(3) From Norristown & vicinity, take Route 202 south to Henderson
Rd. Turn RIGHT at Henderson Rd. Continue as per (5) below.
(4) From the Pa. Turnpike, exit at Valley Forge. Just after the
tollgate, exit at Route 202 north. Continue as per (2) above.
(5) Take Henderson Rd. for about 3/4 mile to Valley Forge Rd near
top of a hill. Good Shepherd Church is on the corner, to the right,
on the other side of Valley Forge Rd. Driveway entrances to parking
lot are located on both Henderson and Valley Forge Rds. Fellowship
Hall entrance is on left side of the L-shaped complex.
