---------------------------------------------------------------------
I am happy to announce the release of hfsutils version 3.1a for DOS, Win32
and OS/2.
What is this?
=============
"hfsutils" is a collection of tools for accessing Macintosh
HFS-formatted volumes. HFS is the Hierarchical File System used on
modern Macintosh computers.
This is a port of Robert Leslie's HFS utilities for UNIX systems.
There are two binary versions of the package: one for Win32 and one
for OS/2. Both versions also run under DOS.
Changes in this version
=======================
- Upgraded to hfsutils 3.1. The most important changes in this
version are:
- A new block cache that greatly increases performance.
- hmount and other commands now properly handle relative pathnames,
even if the current directory changes.
- Several bug fixes.
- OS/2 version: Fixed a problem with some hybrid CD-ROMs where the HFS
part could not be accessed. (The problem still remains in the Win32
version.)
Where to get it
===============
hfsutils is free software, and is available from
http://www.student.nada.kth.se/~f96-bet/hfsutils/
For OS/2, you also need to install the EMX runtime, available from
ftp://ftp.leo.org/pub/comp/os/os2/leo/devtools/emx+gcc/emxrt.zip
For Windows 95/NT, you need the RSXNT extender, available from
ftp://ftp.uni-bielefeld.de/pub/systems/msdos/misc/rsxnt14r.zip
