DECEMBER 5, 1995 - 7:00 PM - TUESDAY (Please Note Date!)

THE OS WARS: The Technology

Windows, NT, Unix, OS/2. Behind all the marketing and name
calling are the real operating systems: lines of code that
provide functionality to calling programs. This talk will
compare the operating systems in terms of their technology.
How does each manage memory, schedule the CPU, and run
processess? We'll take time out from the wars for rational
discussion. Then, back to the slugfest ... Peter Galvin,
our speaker, is Chief Technologist at Corporate
Technologies, a System Integration company. He is co-author
of "Operating System Concepts," 4th ed., the best-selling
operating system textbook.

Metting Location: Silver Auditorium at Sachar International Center,
Brandeis University, Waltham MA.
