The IBM Software Choice: Subscription Offering provides:
Upgrade protection for the eligible program
Access to IBM Software Choice reserved features and updates on the
Internet for the eligible program during your subscription period
All IBM Software Choice CD-ROMs distributed for the eligible program
during your subscription period
Overview
New to Software Choice is a subscription offering that makes available the
reserved features and updates for OS/2 (R) Warp 4, OS/2 Warp Server, or
WorkSpace On-Demand to customers who do not have an active Upgrade Protection
Option (UPO) under an IBM Software Advantage for Workstations contract.
IBM Software Choice is IBM's approach to providing early, easy access to
features, updates, and technical information for qualifying products to
customers in advance of regular product releases.
Some new features and updates are available free of charge to all OS/2 Warp 4,
OS/2 Warp Server, and WorkSpace On-Demand customers via the IBM Software
Choice Web site.
Other features and updates are reserved for those OS/2 Warp 4, OS/2 Warp
Server, and WorkSpace On-Demand customers who have purchased one of the
following:
The new two-year Software Choice subscription offering
An eligible UPO under an active Software Advantage for Workstations
contract
The reserved features and updates are made available to eligible customers
through the IBM Software Choice Web site and through periodically available
CD-ROMs.
Customers who have Internet access can visit the IBM Software Choice site at
URL:

Select those features and updates available to you from the IBM Software
Choice catalog and download them using a supported Web browser. Visit the IBM
Software Choice home page frequently to view new features, updates, and
information.
Software Choice Subscription Offering information for WorkSpace On-Demand will
be provided when WorkSpace On-Demand features and updates become available.
IBM reserves the right to determine the contents of the IBM Software Choice
Web site and CD-ROMs and which features and updates will be offered, when and
to whom. IBM does not guarantee that any upgrades will be announced. Refer to
Software Announcement 297-133, and Software Announcement 297-170, for
additional information regarding Software Choice.

The IBM Software Choice: Subscription Offering allows you to purchase a
two-year subscription for any of the eligible programs -- OS/2 Warp 4, OS/2
Warp Server Version 4, OS/2 Warp Server Advanced Version 4, or WorkSpace
On-Demand -- and includes the following:
Upgrade protection for the eligible program
Upgrade protection entitles you to all eligible upgrades announced for
the program during your subscription period. IBM will provide you with a
single copy (including media and documentation) of each eligible upgrade.
IBM does not guarantee that any upgrades will be announced.
Access to IBM Software Choice reserved features and updates on the
Internet for the eligible program during your subscription period
All IBM Software Choice CD-ROMs distributed for the eligible program
during your subscription period
Registration Instructions
When you purchase one of the subscription offerings, you will receive a
package that contains the following:

Installation booklet
Proof of Entitlement (PoE)
Software Choice registration card
Your user ID and password will not be in the registration package. You must
complete the Software Choice registration card, sign it acknowledging
acceptance of its terms, and submit it via mail or fax in order to receive a
user ID and password, and to receive additional CD updates during the
subscription period. IBM does not guarantee that any upgrades will be
announced.

The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of
security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in
application systems and communication facilities.
ORDERING INFORMATION
IBM Software Choice Upgrade Subscription Offering has a one-time charge (OTC)
per subscription, which includes entitlement for installation on one
workstation. Authorization for additional workstation installations are
available in use pack quantities of 1, 5, 10, and 50.
Each use pack is associated with the base subscription offering and the right
to receive new features and updates expires when the base subscription
expires. For example, if you purchase a two-year subscription on January 1,
1999, that subscription will expire on January 1, 2001. The right to receive
new features and updates for all use packs associated with this subscription
will expire on January 1, 2001, regardless of when you purchase the use pack
during the two-year subscription period.
