---------------------------------------------------------------------
Attribute Manager (previously Comment Manager) is now in beta version 0.7.23
What is new with this release
=============================
- When the fields for subject, comment or key phrases are empty, the
respective EAs are deleted rather than incorrectly saved as 0 length
EAs as before.
- Some small minor interface bug fixes.
- Title bar accepts drag & drop: to display attributes of one or more files
or of a directory, you can drag their icons, from any folder, on the
application title bar.
- Cut-Copy-Paste items in the Edit menu have been enabled. (Undo doesn't
work yet).
- Mask selection dialog: you can specify wild char for selection from
the contextual menu (File->Select->Mask...).
- Font dialog: you can select Options->Font from the pop-up menu. Font
dragging from the font palette is still valid as well.
- Added a "Save last path" option in the Preferences dialog.
- New pages have been added to the preferences dialog (at the moment
only Import functions work).
- The position of the Preferences and Mask section dialog are stored
in the application INI file.
- Import functions have been enabled. You can import descriptions to
subject or comments from file_id.diz in archives, from description.ion
files, you can write a REXX script to import a particular format of file,
or you can import any text file.
Attribute Manager is a PM application that allows to easily read and edit
file or directory ordinary attributes, extended attributes (.SUBJECT,
.COMMENT and .KEYPHRASE) and "last changed" date & time.
The application has a small toolbar, with bubble help, for accessing to
the most used functions.
A contextual menu will pop up by clicking with mouse button 2 in any other
portion of the window.
To view/edit a file/directory you can drag it on the program icon,
start the program and select one or more files through the browse
windows. Once the application is started you can select different file
or directories by dragging and dropping them on the application title bar.
With few mouse clicks you can select a bunch of files and set all their
date/time stamps or attributes at the same value, read or convert to
.SUBJECT or .COMMENT EAs file description from 4 DOS - 4 OS/2 description
files, from file_id.diz files in archives or from any other user defined
file.
Various options can be set by a preferences notebook and will be stored
in the program INI file.
Report and file search capability will be added in future.
The archive (attmn07.zip - 58686 Bytes) is currently in the pub/incoming
directory of hobbes.nmsu.edu and will be moved to /pub/os2/util/diskutil
