Hello !
Do you want the new QuickTime original player from IBM/Apple (beta) ?
Get it from HOBBES:
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/new/quicktime.zip
or
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/apps/mmedia/video/players/quicktime.zip
The original readme.qt:
QuickTime 2.1 for OS/2 Development Seed
---------------------------------------------------------
Welcome to IBM's new QuickTime support.
This package includes a sample program demonstrating the QuickTime
application programming interface (API). QuickTime is a product of
Apple Computer, Inc.
REQUIREMENTS
------------
OS/2 QuickTime requires OS/2 Warp Version 4. With OS/2 Warp Version 3,
QuickTime requires FixPak 24 in addition to the High Resolution Timer, which
is available in the IBM Developer Connection.
RECOMMENDED HARDWARE CONFIGURATION
----------------------------------
QuickTime movies require a minimum configuration of 486 66MHz, but a a Pentium
90MHz configuration with a 16-bit sound card will provide better performance.
INSTALLATION
------------
To install, type MINSTALL at the OS/2 command line. This will copy the
QuickTime executables into the \MMOS2 directories and create an icon for the
sample program. A directory named QT_OS2 will also be created in which the
QuickTime sample program will be placed.
The multimedia applications in OS/2 Warp Version 4 or OS/2 Warp Version 3 will
not be able to play QuickTime movies until a later date when a QuickTime media
control device is available.
RESTORATION OF ORIGINAL SYSTEM
------------------------------
Restoration of your original system is not supported because the files that are
installed are new files that do not overwrite any existing files in your
system. Future releases will have this support. The CONFIG.SYS is not modified
during the installation.
DOCUMENTATION
-------------
Documentation for QuickTime is available from Apple. You can also check out
their Web site at http:\\www.apple.com and http:\\quicktime.apple.com.
For frequently asked questions and developer information, check out
http:\\www.quicktimefaq.org on the World Wide Web. QuickTime for OS/2 closely
follows the QuickTime for Windows API, so refer to the QuickTime 2.1 for
Windows information.
SAMPLE
------
A sample application is provided to demonstrate the QuickTime interface. This
requires adding the QT_OS2 directory to the LIBPATH and INCLUDE statements in
CONFIG.SYS. The library used is GLUE.LIB and the headers are QTW.H and
QT_OS2.H.
Note: The header and library file names could change in the future.
BACKWARD COMPATIBILITY FOR MCI APPLICATIONS
-------------------------------------------
Backward compatibility of existing MCI applications is not available in this
release because a QuickTime media control device (MCD) is not available.
NEW FEATURES FOR THE IBM DEVELOPER CONNECTION VOLUME 12
-------------------------------------------------------
- QuickTime movie playback using sample program
QuickTime LIMITATIONS
---------------------
- No file dialog
- No media control support for MCI applications
- No VGA (16 colors) support
- Only one QuickTime application can run simultaneously
- Only Cinepak video compression supported
- Only uncompressed and IMA 4 audio compression supported
- MIDI track support unavailable
- QuickTime does not run on systems with older ReelMagic cards
BULLETIN BOARD SUPPORT
----------------------
Support is available on CompuServe via the OS/2 Developer Forum 1 (OS2DF1) in
the Multimedia section.
Next Release of QuickTime
-------------------------
The following items are planned for the next release of QuickTime:
- MIDI track support
- File dialog
- Movie player
- Picture viewer
- More video compressions
- Multiple movie playback support
Known Problems
==============

Good luck and enjoy.
