OS/2 Bay Area User Group October 1995 General Meeting
OS/2, the Internet, the Future, and You
David Singer, IBM
Monday, October 23, 1995
New User Clinic: 7:00 PM, General Meeting: 7:30 PM
Stanford Linear Accelerator Center Auditorium
2575 Sand Hill Road, Menlo Park, California
Last October, in one of our best received talks ever, David
Singer spoke to the OS/2 Bay Area User Group on the topic of "OS/2
and the Internet". This October, David will be back to discuss
what's happened on the net in the past year and where the world
seems to be headed. Some topics that he's likely to include are:
Java (Sun's Internet automation language)
HTML mutations
Searching the Web
Parental Guidance
Web Security
IBM's Web Offerings
Audience participation will be encouraged!
David Singer is a Program Manager in IBM Internet Solutions, and is
based at the IBM Almaden Research Center in San Jose, California.
For the past few years, David has been involved in increasing IBM's
use of the Internet. He is the author of the OS/2 Gopher client,
and ran IBM's first Internet Gopher site. Currently, David's main
interests are in using Internet technologies to improve IBM's
internal and external connectivity.
David received his bachelor's and master's degrees at Rensselaer
Polytechnic Institute and was very happy to escape the ice and snow
by joining IBM in Boca Raton, Florida in 1976. He was even happier
to escape the heat and humidity by moving to San Jose in 1984.
Directions to SLAC
Take the Sand Hill Road East exit off I-280. The second traffic
light after the one at the interchange is the entrance to SLAC.
Turn right. Stop at the guard house and tell the guard that
you are going to the OS/2 Bay Area User Group meeting. The
Auditorium is in the central area of the complex and is the
building straight ahead of you when you are at the guard house.
