ATHENA DESIGN ANNOUNCES A SHORT DELAY IN SHIPPING THE NEW VERSION OF
ITS MESA<TM> SPREADSHEET for OS/2<R>,
OCTOBER 11, 1995 - BOSTON - Last week Athena Design announced that,
begining yesterday, its latest version of the Mesa spreadsheet
application was going to be available free to its registered users
and would be released at a sale price of $95 for new customers.
However, due to a bug in the handling of keyboard actions during
multithreaded operations, Athena Design has removed Mesa 2.0.3 rev101
from production. Athena Design is currently working on a solution to
the bug and expects to release an updated version early next week.
Athena Design has notified the moderators of the following forums and
asked them to remove rev 101: the CompuServe OS2AVEN forum, America
OnLine, and various FTP sites.
"While we are obviously embarrassed to have to delay release at the
last moment, we hope that our quick response has limited the impact
of this bug on our users," said David Pollak, President of Athena
Design. "We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused to any of
our users. We urge all of our current users to make sure that they
are using the most recent version 2.0.2 of Mesa until the new version
is available."
Mesa is a full-featured, 32-bit spreadsheet offering huge, three
dimensional workbooks. The application also provides unlimited
undo/redo, multi-threaded recalculation and Workplace Shell
interaction with OS/2's color and font palettes. Mesa for OS/2 uses
OS/2's REXX scripting language. Mesa includes many unique usability
features including SmartFill<TM>, Formula Inheritance<TM> and drag
and drop color and fonts. Mesa also supports real-time data feeds
from any source including financial markets.
Mesa for OS/2 can be purchased directly from Athena Design by calling
1-800-315-MESA or from major OS/2 resellers for a sale price of $95
for commercial customers and $70 for educational users. Mesa comes
with 90 days of technical support via fax, and email. An additional
12-month support contract which includes phone support is also
available at a suggested retail price of $99.
The updated version of the Mesa for OS/2 application will be placed
