The POSSI LAN SIG will be hosting Ms. Laura Adams from IBM's Certification
Division during its February 4th meeting. This meeting will be held from 7PM -
9PM at its new meeting location, Knowledge Development Center which is located
at 2999 N. 44th Street Suite 400.
Ms. Adams has worked within the IBM family for over 20 years and during that
time she has spent time in Development (OS/2, DB Mgr., SPM/2). She has acted
as a speaker at various OS/2 Seminars and Technical Interchanges. She joined
the "Professional Certification from IBM" team in 1995 and is currently
responsible for existing and future certifications for:
- OS/2 Warp Engineer
- OS/2 Warp Developer
- LAN Server Engineer and Administrator
- OS/2 Warp Server Engineer and Administrator
The topics to be covered at the meeting:
- What is the IBM Certification program and why is it the most comprehensive
in the industry.
- Why get certified and the benefits of certification.
- Detail on IBM's certification roles (currently have 40+ roles, and number
is growing), including handouts on required tests, education, technical
benefits.
- "Advantage Programs" -- we recognize other industry certifications.
