IcaruSoft announces the availability of Type/2, the only typing tutor
available for the OS/2* platform.
Type/2 is for people who either want to learn to type or want to improve upon
their current typing skills without sacrificing the resources required to run
a Windows* application. It is also for people who wish to experiment with the
Dvorak keyboard layout without actually switching to a Dvorak keyboard.
The program is very extensible; allowing additional text and additional types
of text to be added simply by opening a file. Two separate advancement
controls gives both the users and authors of lessons some measure of control
over how fast the user moves through a file. This feature helps to insure
that the user gets the most from each lesson.
Type/2 provides several layers of assistance so that everyone, from the novice
to the expert, will immediately feel comfortable using the program. Key
highlighting, as well as audible and other visual feedback help the user learn
and improve their typing skills in the shortest time possible.
"What we have tried to do here," says Ernest Christley, the developer of
Type/2, "is attempt to provide the OS/2 community with a program that will be
effective as soon as its installed, but will also continue to grow with the
user."
Type/2 is available now with a 'Beginner's' package. Additional packages are
in the works and will be freely available before Christmas. The program also
includes a utility that will allow users and other interested parties to
create their own test files. The shareware version of the program is on
