arty election. There has been conflict between the judiciary, parliament
and the executive presidency who often worked in different directions.
The judiciary and bureaucracy were often criticized of being loyal to Gayoom,
the former autocratic ruler.Nasheed was elected in 2008 but resigned midway
through his term last year after weeks of public protests and sliding
support of the military and police over his decision to detain a
senior judge whom he perceived as biased. He later claimed that he was
ousted in a coup but a local inquiry commission set aside the
allegation.Maldives is a predominantly Muslim nation of 350,000 people.

during heavy clashes with government forces, in the Salaheddine district
in Aleppo, Syria.APSyrian rebel fighters linked with Al Qaeda have asked
for "understanding and forgiveness" after mistakenly beheading one of their
allies and putting the head on display. In a video posted online, members
of Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham were shown holding up the
head of what they thought was a supporter of President Bashar Assad
before a crowd in Aleppo, The Telegraph reported. After the video was posted,

Ahrar al-Sham, a well-established rebel group that regularly fights alongside
the Islamic State of Iraq, according to the report.Omar al-Qahtani, a spokesman
for the Islamic State of Iraq, said Fares thought he had been

<p style="font-size:xx-small;">PepsiCoAPReutersPepsiCoAPFlickr/LynnetteDiving into the world of Pepsi is
a difficult one what was once a simple drink is now
an entire corporation that owns multiple other brands. You may have had
no idea that Tropicana is actually a product of PepsiCo (so are
IZZE, Propel, Naked Juice, Mountain Dew, Sierra Mist the list goes on!)
and that every time you purchase a Frito-Lay product, youre actually buying
a PepsiCo product. Thats right, we could go on and on about
all the different products that Pepsi owns the list is seemingly
endless. The company was first started in 1898 by a North Carolina pharmacist
named Caleb Bradham. Since then, it has grown into a multibillion dollar
brand. And one that's not without its scandals.Among many other things,
PepsiCo is well known for some of the more shocking commercials that
have been aired during the Super Bowl throughout the years, including one
that featured a scantily clad Britney Spears. Then there's the mishap when
Michael Jackson was severely burned filming one of his famous Pepsi commercials
in 1984. And recent reports show that the company is actually losing
money, as America's soda consumption declines.Regardless of all the ups
and downs that Pepsi has faced along its long and winding road,
the brand has to be doing something right because theyre still doing
well up against top competitors like Coca-Cola. We even did a taste
test that compared the two products against one another, whic
BRUSSELS European Union officials have cautioned Spain and Italy that their
budget plans risk breaching EU rules aimed at keeping deficits and debt
under control. For the first time, the EU's executive commission is reviewing
draft budgets before national legislatures pass them. The review is aimed
at preventing budget troubles from undermining the shared euro currency.Italy,
the No. 3 economy in the 17-country eurozone, was cited Friday for
not sufficiently addressing its heavy debt load. Spain, the No. 4 economy,
was warned its deficit would breach the EU limit of 3 percent
of annual economic output.Smaller euro members Finland, Luxembourg and Malta
were also warned. The debt and deficit rules were toughened after government
debt grew to unmanageable levels in several eurozone countries, threatening
the currency union with breakup.
