Democrats will be making the rounds on the Hill pleading with their
fellow Democrats to help them block Obamas coal crackdown. Meantime, Democratic
union boosters are begging for relief from Obamas health law. Across the
way, civil libertarians are agonizing over Obamas amazing expansion of domestic
surveillance. And all the while, Republicans are finding new ways to highlight
abuses at the IRS and tie them to Obamas unpopular health law. With
history suggesting and polls showing big trouble for Democrats next year,
Obamas call for radical inaction will not find many fans among the
remaining moderate Democrats. Obama is selling the same thing to Democrats

With preferred seats harder to get, passengers are desperate enough to offer
bribes to their fellow fliers. ReutersGetting the seat you want on a
flight has never been more of a hassle.Last year, domestic flights in
the U.S. were 83 percent full, the highest passenger load factor recorded
since 1945. On top of crowded flights, most airlines have schemes in
place to reserve choice seats for frequent flyers or those willing to
pay a feeAmid this atmosphere, some passengers are desperate enough to offer
bribes to get their preferred seat.Airline employees can lose their jobs
for accepting bribes, so few are willing take the risk of offering
an upgrade or a better seat in exchange for a kickback. In
some countries, bribes can still get you onto a full flight or
in a better seat, but in the U.S., passengers who cant get
their way may be stuck pulling out their wallet and approaching their
fellow passengers. While not illegal or prohibited by the airlines, passengers
exchanging bribes is a concern for some who say it will create
chaos in the cabin.- Dr. Joyce Hunter, associate professor at Saint Xavier
UniversityLast month, Jason Goldberg, the CEO and founder of Fab.com offered
his fellow passengers $100 to swap seats in the first class cabin
of a flight from Stockholm to Newark so that he and a
colleague could collaborate on a work project. When they declined the offer,
he vented his frustration to his 37,000 Facebook followers. The dude next

resulted in the "automated tools operating in a manner that was not
completely consistent with the specific terms of the court's order." Additional
safeguards were subsequently ordered by the surveillance court.Intelligence
officials stressed at a Senate committee hearing on Wednesday that the program
still does not let them look at content unless there is a
reasonable suspicion that the material might be related to terror groups. Some
lawmakers have come down hard on the NSA over these programs, pushing
to force the agency to release more information and potentially rein in
the program itself. One of the documents, though, adamantly defended the
rationale for collecting massive quantities of "metadata" on phone calls

The Wall Street Journal in an email that the conversation was "definitely
on the record."In her Daily News piece,Nuzzi wrote that Weiner often called
interns "Monica," a reference to former White House intern Monica Lewinsky,
and that many people worked on the campaign to get close to
Weiner's wife, Huma Abedin. Abedin is an ex-aide to former Secretary of
State Hillary Clinton.Meanwhile, Weiner released a new campaign video Tuesday
evening saying he won't quit the race, despite calls from politicians and
newspaper editors who have said he should quit.In the one-minute video posted
on his campaign's website, he said his critics don't know New York
or him and that quitting isn't what New Yorkers do, they "fight
through tough things."He said in the video that when "embarrassing" things
in a person's private life become public, the person should talk about
it.The Associated Press contributed to this report.Click here for more from
